Fear of losing security is keeping us from trying new things, from challenging the world and ourselves. So many of us chose a safe road, pushing the dreams aside. When you 18-20 you have so many dreams, you are full of positive energy, like you know that one day you are going to change the world. And then the reality swallows you and you are waking up one day with a shock on your face realizing that you are 40, have two kids, do the job you do not really want and generally are on a path you have never considered – with a mortgage creeping on you, surprised that you ever wanted this commitment. That is if you lucky to wake up.

I thought traveling opened my mind. I was wrong. Traveling is a border you cross, it’s a tool you use unconsciously to unlock your heart and enrich your soul. It’s like stepping to unknown water to learn how to swim. You trust you can do it and keep yourself on a surface. And you do. Traveling does not open your mind. It is you who does that, it is you who allows traveling to open you up. And by doing so you are becoming someone brand new, you are becoming you – fully realizing your needs, dreams and wants.

To fully discover yourself and start living with different priorities and needs, you need to turn your own, well known and quite safe world, upside down. You need to set on a journey. You need to do that if you want to know who you really are, what you are capable of, what you can achieve, what would you learn about yourself. Don’t be scared.

There are plenty of advices for full-time travellers on how to book cheap accommodation, buy cheap flight ticket, find great place to eat etc. However if you are not, like me, a full time traveller, you might consider spending part of your holidays with a rented car and a tent!
To this day I consider our 2 weeks holidays in Portugal with a tent the best holidays ever. And this is why:
